Abstract

Handsanitizers are one of the most sought after items during the corona virus pandemic as it is today. Handsanitizers are handsanitizers that have antiseptic properties to inhibit and kill bacteria. If soap and water are not available, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends using a hand sanitizer or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Research states that betel leaf stew can kill viruses and bacteria, because it contains antiseptic properties. In addition, betel leaf stew contains essential oils which are composed of several chemical components classified as phenol compounds (phenol and eugenol betel isomers) and compounds other than phenols (cadinene, cariophylene, terpenes, terpinen, metal ether, menthon and sesquiterpenes). With the chemical substances contained in betel leaf extract, the betel leaf stew can be used as a natural handsanitizer without using alcohol. Oranges are a plant that has the potential to be developed as a nutritious plant. This is because the chemical components contained in lime include flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, essential oils, and saponins which have antimicrobial activity. The purpose of this activity is to utilize the potential resources of betel and lime leaves in the surrounding environment, to create natural non-alcoholic hand sanitizer products from materials that are easily available at affordable prices.
