The Effectiveness of Home Tutoring to Improve Students’ Reading Ability During the Covid-19 Pandemic by Implementing Health Protocols

Abstract
This study aims to describe the results of student tutoring during the Covid-19 pandemic by applying health protocols. The data analysis technique used was processed by the following steps: 1) performing data reduction (grouping data according to certain methods), 2) data presentation, and 3) drawing conclusions. The actions taken consist of cycle I, cycle II, cycle III, cycle IV, and cycle V. Each cycle is carried out with 1 meeting and 1 method applied. Cycle I is related to learning to improve reading skills in Indonesian using the alphabet method. So, the ability and understanding as well as pronunciation by the students got an average of 60.00. Cycle II which deals with learning to improve reading skills in Indonesian using the Spelling Method. So, the ability and understanding and pronunciation by students obtained an average of 65.55. Cycle III which deals with learning to improve reading skills in Indonesian using the Syllabic Method. Thus, the students' ability and understanding as well as pronunciation get an average of 70.00. Cycle IV related to learning to improve reading skills in Indonesian using the Whole Word Method. So, the ability and understanding as well as pronunciation by students obtained an average of 75.00. Cycle V is related to learning to improve reading skills in Indonesian using the Sentence / Global method (Syntaxis Method). So, the students' ability and understanding as well as pronunciation get an average of 80.00.
