Education and socialization on how to manage mask waste

Abstract

The COVID-19 in Indonesia has not only discrupted the national and economic sectors of the economy and health, but has also discrupted the environment, particularly those relates to medical waste. Mask waste, which is one type of medical waste, has increaseddramatically, and in severity it can also cause various adverse impacts on the environment as described through various previous studies. This paper aims to educate the public on how to properly manage mask waste. There are 3 methods used,namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. From the results of the evaluation conducted 90.9% of respondents answered very well and 9.1% of respondents answered quite well about innovative work programs; 95.5% of respondents answered very well and 4.5% of respondents answered quite well about new and useful work programs; 81.8% of respondents answered very well and 18.2% of respondents answered quite well on the benefits of individual programs; 81.8% of respondents answered adding insight on how to manage mask waste properly; 9.1% of respondents answered increasing the ability to think and act on the increase in mask waste, 4.55% of respondents answered that they got the information they were looking for and 4.55% of respondents answered that they received appropriate information about the benefits of the work program implemented. The conclusion obtained by respondents is that they understand and increase their knowledge about how to manage mask waste and can think and act correctly towards the increasing number of mask waste so that they are not managed carelessly
