Socialization of Good and Correct Handwashing for Elementary School Children in Tabing Rimbah Village, Mandastana District, Barito Kuala Regency

Abstract

Washing hands is an important thing to do in everyday life to maintain cleanliness.  One of the community service groups at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Muhammadiyah Banjarmasin has carried out Community Service activities in the form of counseling and assistance in offline handwashing practices consisting of 3 stages, the first starting from the observation stage, the second in the form of distributing reference leaflets and implementing activities in Tabing Rinbah Village, District  Mandastana, Barito Kuala Regency.  The goal is to increase children's knowledge about hand washing with soap and can be applied at school and at home.  The method used in this activity is counseling about hand washing with soap and assisting children in the practice of washing hands with soap.  This received a good and positive response from the children because it was very useful for the children to know about hand washing with soap which really prevents disease-causing bacteria.  In addition, the hand washing technique carried out was in accordance with the recommendations.  In conclusion, the implementation of community service is effective in changing children's habits and behavior to wash their hands properly and correctly
