Education on how to wash hands properly and correctly to the people of Pulau Sewangi Village, Barito Kuala Regency

Abstract

Hand washing with soap (CTPS) is one of the sanitation measures by cleaning hands and fingers using soap and water so that they become clean. The proportion of correct hand washing behavior based on Riskesdas data in South Kalimantan Province is 51.7%. In Barito Kuala District, the proportion of correct hand washing behavior is only 45.57%, this shows that the proportion of correct hand washing in Barito Kuala District is lower than the average proportion in South Kalimantan Province. Therefore, it is necessary to provide good and correct hand washing education to increase understanding of the importance of proper hand washing in everyday life. The outreach activity "Education on How to Wash Hands is Good and Correct" was carried out in Pulau Sewangi Village, Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan Province using lecture methods and poster media. At the end of the meeting participants were given a questionnaire as a form of evaluation to determine the level of understanding and satisfaction of participants with the material that had been delivered. In the last session, gifts in the form of hand soap were distributed with the aim that participants could apply good and correct hand washing behavior.
